PROCEDURE FOR USE OF CLOR-D-TECT TO TEST CUSTOMER OIL
1. Each Intown Oil Collection Driver and Semi Driver will be issued 2 Clor-D-Tect 1,000 Test kits. Out-of-town Oil Collection Drivers will be issued 5 Clor-D-Tect 1000 Test kits. The cost of each kit is $5.50 if lost or damaged.
2. When a Driver is following the testing procedure for the HalogenMeter and the oil sets off the meter, he will do the following:
Explain to the customer that the meter sensed something.
Demonstrate this to the customer if necessary.
Offer to run our field test with the Clor-D-Tect at a cost to the customer of $20.00 per test. A manifest will be made out for the cost of the test.
Explain to the customer in advance what will happen upon completion of the test.
If the results show the oil is over 1,000 PPM, then we CANNOT pump the oil without further testing by a certified lab. The customer will still pay for the test. The paper work will be brought in to our office and a copy of the manifest will be forwarded to John so he can contact the customer. Explain to the customer that the test does not determine positively that the oil is hazardous. The halogens present may be non-hazardous, but only a laboratory can determine this and it must be certified in writing.
If the customer decides to purchase our service of performing the test, the Driver must fill out a manifest for the service charge. In the event the oil fails the test, write "exceeds halogen level" in the area where gallons are normally entered. The customer must sign the manifest.
When the Driver returns to the office and turns in the used test and the manifest showing the charges to perform the test (whether the test passed or failed), the Dispatcher will issue a replacement test kit. The Driver will always have the required test kits available to test oil, if needed. Drivers returning after hours will staple the used test kit box to the used test kit box to the manifest and turn in. The dispatcher will put a new test kit in the drivers slot.
When a test shows the halogen level to be over 1,000 PPM, our Sales Department will attempt to assist the customer in obtaining the lab analysis. Once the customer has provided us with written certification from a certified lab, we will then pump the oil.
