PLANT PROCEDURE FOR SAMPLING FOR SPEC. FUEL ANALYSIS
When the tank you are preparing to Spec.-out is full, the tank must be mixed in order to insure a representative sample. The tank must be mixed by attaching injecting 75 CFM of air for 30 minutes. The air will roll the oil in the tank creating a homogenous mix. Pull two samples off of the Spec. Fuel Sampling Valve. (This valve is approximately 4 ft. off the bottom.)
The sample should be labeled as follows:
Mesa Oil
Date
Tank No.
You should then do a P. O. showing the following information:
1. The sample as it is labeled - Sample ID:
Mesa Oil
Date
Tank No.
2. Type of analysis requested, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, total organic chlorides GC/ECD, flash point and PCB's.
You should then take the sample and a copy of the P. O. to the designated person who will take the sample to the lab. Time is essential in preparing the sample and getting it to the Lab. This should be done immediately following filling of the tank.
Once the sample is taken to the lab, an analysis number will be assigned by the lab. Start a "Specification used oil analysis sheet" for the tank. Enter total gallons and the lab analysis number on the sheet.
Once the written Analysis Report and Invoice are received from the lab, prepare the P. O. and Work Order. Attach P. O. and Work Order to Invoice and turn in to Bookkeeping. Attach Lab Analysis Report to Spec. Fuel Analysis Sheet.
As Delivery tickets are made enter the number of the ticket on the sheet and enter the lab analysis number on the Delivery ticket. When all deliveries are made and recorded on the Spec. Fuel Analysis Sheet and the tank is empty, turn the sheet into the Office.
